Sukkot in the Juhuro Center
Hol Hamoed Sukkot at the Juhuro Gorsky Kavkazi Center is an
experience of a lifetime. The holiday event, which took place on
September 30, 2007/19 Tishrei 5768, took the community by storm.
With over 100 people in attendance, the night was filled with
traditional music and dancing, tantalizing kavkazi cuisine, and
raffle prizes.
Most importantly, the goal of the evening in the spirit of the
holiday of Sukkot -- to reach out to the members of the Kavkazi
community that falls on a spectrum of Jewish observance, from
traditional to Orthodox, in order to unite them -- was realized.
Men of all ages and backgrounds came together under the Sukkah to
dance the Kavkazi traditional dances. While, the ladies danced in
their own private room, with a décor theme of "Under the Stars,"
next to the Sukkah.
According to the organizers of the event, "the feedback from the
attendants was beyond positive. Everyone enjoyed the party!"
In addition to the fun, social mix comprised of over five hours of
non-stop dancing and delicious BBQ, the highlights of the evening
were raffle giveaways. Prizes included books such as Chumash with
Rashi, Life as a Test by Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis, Tehillim,
Praying with Fire, The Book of Our Heritage series, and others.
Books were donated by the Orthodox Union and a private donor to
ensure the continuation of Jewish education and traditions.
